It is the policy of the Gheens Foundation to contribute a minimum of five percent (5%) of the value of its total assets each year to recipients generally located in Metro Louisville, Kentucky, and LaFourche and Terrebonne Parishes in Louisiana.

Generally, recipients are to be made for worthy causes of all kinds, grants for education and Christian works, both cultural and spiritual, will receive emphasis.  From time to time, special effort will be made to determine the communities’ needs, and if possible, grants will be directed toward fulfilling those needs.  Care will be given so as not to over commit the Foundation’s ability to fund, though forward commitments in reasonable amounts and for reasonable terms are allowed.

Although it is recognized that many needs of the communities are ongoing, it is that aim of the Foundation to designate approximately thirty percent (30%) of its annual gifts toward those new initiatives whose objectives mesh with the long term objectives of the Foundation.
