It is the policy of the Gheens Foundation to contribute approximately five percent (5%) of the value of its total assets each year to recipients generally located in the Metropolitan Louisville, Kentucky area and Lafourche and Terrebonne Parishes in Louisiana.

Applications are considered for worthy causes of all kinds. Public education and social services will receive emphasis.  Care is exercised to balance the needs of today with anticipated needs of tomorrow. 

Although many needs of the communities are ongoing, the Foundation designates approximately thirty percent (30%) of its annual gifts to new initiatives whose objectives are consistent with the long term goals of the Foundation.
